Black History Month Art

October was Black History Month, here is some African art we did, I was super impressed by the artist talents of Year 4. Some or the pictures are on display in our classroom.

Julia is in the gold book this week for her fantastic writing of a balanced arguement, she gave points for and against and included an introduction, conclusion and a rhetorical question, a fantastic piece, well done!

Holly is in the gold book this week for her fantastic essay about good v's evil in the book The Lost Happy Endings, she included an introduction, PEE paragraphs and a conclusion, it was also beautifully presented, well done!

Today we had some play time fun in the pool, Year 4 loved it, here they are enjoying themselves...




Gold book (6/10/16)

Zoe is in the gold book this week for her science learning, during our lesson she took part in an experiment, she made sensible predictions, carried it out safely, drew conclusions and made a final true statement educated from her findings, well done Zoe, a budding scientist!

Nieve was in the gold book this week for her fantastic story prediction, she used some fantastic descriptive language and included metaphors and similes, well done it was a pleasure to read.

A Country Fact File
Create a fact file about one of the countries competing in this year’s Olympics/Paralympics in Rio. As part of your leaflet can you research the history behind the meaning of the Olympic rings
Brazilian Cuisine
Find a Brazilian recipe for a dish that is eaten and enjoyed by the people of Brazil.
Write out the recipe; make it if you can and share pictures of it being enjoyed by your family.
Junk Modelling
Using some pictures in class or your own research on the internet can you create your own model of a favela out of recyclable materials.
What’s in a Rainforest?
Create a drawing of a rainforest showing the different layers of growth; some examples of what animals would live there and labelling some species of plants.
Magnify a detailed drawing of a plant or animal of your choice.
Persuasive Poster
Imagine you work for the Brazilian Tourist Board and you must design the next marketing poster to draw more tourists to your wonderful country. Think colour, images, key words…
Marvellous Mapping
Create a map of a rainforest overlaid with a grid. Remember to label your x and y axis on your grid with a,b,c,d 1,2,3,4
Create a set of instructions (start here, move forward 1, turn right etc.) to guide a friend to the goal
Brazil and Fairtrade
What can you find out Fairtrade and Brazil? Use www.fairtrade.org.uk to help you and think which is the best way to show your findings - poster, leaflet, powerpoint, talk etc.
A day in the life of…
Imagine you are living in the Favelas. Write a dairy about your day. Really put yourself in their shoes and see beyond the pictures we have shared and discussed.
Our Wonderful Weather
Keep a weather diary/complete a weather chart for a week for the weather at home and use the internet to chart the weather in Brazil. Show your findings in a suitable way - graph maybe. What are your main findings?
Top Trumps
Create a set of Top Trump cards for a sport of your choice from the Olympics of the Brazil football team. Think age, attainment, celebrity status, appearances etc.
What’s in a Word?
Create a Brazilian glossary (book design of your choice) listing and explaining a minimum of 15 words. How best can you present your words - colour, drawings, alphabetised…
