Gillian Cross visit

Today Gillian Cross came to visit, she is a famous author, famous for books like The Demon Headmaster


She told us a bit about herself and we, as a class, made up a Monster Headmistress.

Eden Camp

Last week we went to Eden Camp we had a fantastic time and experienced what it was like in World War II.

Healthy Schools Week

During Healthy Schools Week we covered lots of things, we learnt about:

A healthy food plate
Food preparation
Road safety
The goodness of water
Keeping ourselves clean
Keeping our teeth healthy
Smoking
Designing a healthy lunchbox and meal

We also learnt a South African dance

We used disclosing tablets to see how clean our teeth our, here are some photos of our pink teeth


Don't worry we brushed them clean.

We also looked at food labels, what do these labels tell us?


We also learnt about the sugar in drinks, wow, we were amazed!

World War II learning logs

The last 2 learning log homework has been about World War II, the research that has been done is absolutely fantastic and so lovely to see how many of you have family that were involved in the war/military.

Jacob H
Jacob is in the gold book this week for his enthusiasm, he has shown a very keen interest in our World War II unit, he is very knowledgeable, especially in regards to war planes.

Rowan
Rowan is also in the gold book for the interest he has shown during our World War II topic, he even brought in to share with the class his model planes that he has made and painted, very impressive!

Kacey is in the gold book this week for her fantastic learning logs, she has completed every single one, on time and to an exceptioanlly high standard showing fantastic independent learning, well done!

Bobby is in the gold book this week for persevering with his hand writing and presentation, this week he has produced a fantastically neat piece of text, well done! You've now set the example of what you are capable of!

Shannon is in the gold book for being resourceful, she was unsure of a spelling and used resources around her to find out the correct spelling.

Rose is in the gold book this week for her independent learning, she has brought in a fantastic learning log which shows learning that she has done at home, well done!

Alex is in the gold book this week for cooperation, he works well as part of a group, he joins in and contributes and he is willing to help others.

Kayden 
Kayden is in the gold book this week for his perserverance, he perservered and didn't give up during our maths data handling sessions, he carried on and completed the task.

Rowan
Rowan is in the gold book this week for cooperation, I regularly see him helping others on the carpet, I often overhear him saying things like "Do you need any help? Do you understand?" Which is really considerate and helpful, thank you.

Mathew 
Mathew is in the gold book for cooperation, during guided reading he was observed offering help and assistance to his fellow group mates, this is lovely to see, well done!

Issy is in the gold book this week for her perseverance, she showed this during a CLIC session as she continuously tried and did not give up until she had the correct answer.

Tamara 
Tamara is in the gold book this week for her cooperation, she is always ready to lend a hand or help others, this is lovely to see.

Science, sound

As part of our new science topic, sound, we have been learning about how sound travels and for part of this we made cup phones and tested how they worked, here we are testing them...
